Plankton - small organisms, sometimes microscopic, including algae and protozoans, that float or drift in ponds, lakes, rivers, estuaries, lagoons, and the sea.
Planktonic - Referring to plankton, the adjective form of the noun plankton.
Pleistocene - This term refers to a period of Geological Time (known as an Epoch) that lasted from approximately 2 million to ten thousand years ago. The Pleistocene is also known as the Ice Age. During this period of time the shape of Florida fluctuated greatly as sea level rose and fell during ice ages and interglacial periods. Many large animals lived here that are now extinct.
